Community Support
Our primary charitable cause since 2014
Helping those in our local community less fortunate than ourselves
Crisis are a charity close to our heart. They help people directly out of homelessness and campaign for the social changes needed to solve it altogether. Each Christmas they mobilise a unique volunteering effort to provide warmth, companionship and vital services to people facing homelessness.
To date, we have raised over £3,000 and counting.
Being a positive force in the community is very important to us
– some people are surprised when they find out we’re located in a small village, but we’re lucky enough to have a great relationship with our neighbours. Our drivers are responsible, careful and polite, and we like to have the same relationship with the wider community.
Historically it’s always been important to us to get involved and do more; Gordon Hunt was a member and Chairman of the Parish Council following his retirement from the business, and he and his wife June have always had active roles in supporting the village hall, and organising and assisting at fetes and flower shows.
Our staff have always been so motivated to raise money for charity, highlights of the last ten years include:
We took part in the Big Basingstoke Sleep Out for Julian House, raising £1,000 by spending the night sleeping outside on a chilly -2°C February night.
Raising over £1,600 for the British Heart Foundation by doing the London to Brighton and Isle of Wight bike rides.
Raising almost £750 for vital men’s health causes by growing some seriously impressive facial hair for Movember.
We held a Family Fun day for Hampshire & Isle of Wight and Essex Air Ambulances, which raised over £800.
We’ve supported the North Hampshire Medical Fund by transporting the beds for their brilliant Bed Push event.
And we’ve raised over £3,000 across the years for the wonderful Crisis at Christmas appeal, reserving many places for people at their life saving centres every Christmas!
Privately our staff have also completed Le Havre to Paris cycles and the Basingstoke Big Wheel for local hospices, and Race for Life events for Cancer Research. We’ve also held several very popular bake sales for Comic Relief and Children in Need.
We’re so proud of all of our hard-working, dedicated staff and their fantastic efforts, and their team spirit. They always go the extra mile!
Destination Basingstoke
We’ve really enjoyed being part of two major Hampshire events, ‘Sitting with Jane’ and the ‘Hampshire Hogs’. We worked with event organisers Destination Basingstoke to deliver the art installations for these two trails, and both the benches and the hogs were auctioned off for charity at the end of the events.
Sitting with Jane raised over £70,000 for the Ark Cancer Centre Charity, and the Hampshire Hogs raised over £15,000 for St Michael’s Hospice, Naomi House & Jacksplace, Mind and Heartburn Cancer UK.
