The art of movement.

We believe strongly in providing a great working environment and culture for all our staff.  Not only is it good for everyone here at L Hunt & Sons, but it instills a market leading work ethic that clearly differentiates us from others. Our staff turnover is very low and our retention high.  Our staff like to work here and this all adds up to excellent customer service. Our staff know our customers, they know their wants and needs and will really go the extra mile to ensure they are met, signed, sealed and delivered.  We truly have movement off to a fine art.

All of this is possible through the expert use of our fleet.  Here are some details:

  • We have ten high spec tractor units with carrying capacity up to 44,000 kgs GVW.
  • A Nissan Navara pickup with several different trailers to accomodate a maximum load of 3,500 kgs
  • We have a large fleet of general use and specialist trailers - curtainsiders, flats, euroliners, low loaders and semi-low loaders.  We also boast purpose built machinery carrying trailers for all types of forklift & machinery, including one with a 575mm deck height capable of carrying forklifts with up to a 4.3m mast height.  All our trailers are fitted with the latest equipment including remote control winches.  We've also invested in a smaller urban trailer, making us even more flexible by allowing tail lift deliveries to areas where space is limited.
  • We have also recently invested in a lorry mounted crane trailer.  The trailer is a Mac semi low loader, and it has been paired with a Pesci 87.5 tonne/meter knuckleboom crane.  The semi low loader itself has outriggers and wide load marker boards, as well as hydraulic ramps to the rear.  The Pesci 875 SE is among the biggest in its class of knuckleboom cranes.  It is capable of lifting loads in excess of 15,000kg at 4.6m from its base, and loads in excess of 3,600kg at 17.45m from its base.  The crane has seven hydraulic extensions and is fully controlled by the operator using the latest Scanreco radio remote control.  Our operators are fully ALLMI qualified and certified as lorry mounted crane operators as well as slingers and signallers.  Make sure you're following us on Facebook to see the crane trailer in action!

Our fleet upgrades continue with two new eco friendly Volvo FH 500's !         Also new for 2014 is our uniquely designed low load trailer !

Groupage & Pallet Service.

We cover all of the UK and Europe, with fully qualified international CPC Transport Managers.  We offer a Groupage service and fully utilise pallet networks to ensure the most efficient and timely service for our customers.

ADR Service.

All our vehicles are equipped with the relevant fire extinguishers, marker boards, PPE and other safety equipment.  All our staff hold current licences covering all categories, with the exception of explosives.

Unusual Loads Service.

We can provide a personal liaison to cover all aspects of abnormal load movement.  From assessing your requirements to providing an escort vehicle service, second man, route planning and scouting, removal of street furniture and arranging movement orders right through to liaison with local Police services.   We make the unusual, Huntusual.  Through our vast experience, you can trust us to get the job done, quickly and efficiently.

Unusual Haulage and Storage Service.

As a result of our longstanding relationship with Oxoid Thermofisher we are registered for the storage, handling and distribution of ABP Category 3 materials.  We pride ourselves on high standards in all aspects of our business and are delighted that our approval from DEFRA and AHVLA adds another string to our bow.

Our Staff.

The most important ingredient to our continued success.  We continually invest in our staff training programme as we know this brings tangible business results.  All our staff are trained to the highest standard, with all drivers completing the relevant CPC courses and all holding ADR and forklift licences.  Our staff are kept up to date as possible on all the latest legislations, equipment training and health and safety, whilst maintaining traditional practices that have served us so well over the years, such as roping and sheeting.

Our staff turnover is very low.  Our longest serving driver started with us in September 1985, and the most recent joined us in 2015.  This gives us a fantastic balance of experience, energy and skills.  We invest in all our employees and as a result our staff are loyal, dedicated and proud to provide you with the best service possible in todays road haulage industry.
