Community pride.

As one of the longest standing haulage contractors in the area, certainly in Basingstoke, we pride ourselves on our relationship with the local community.

For over 100 years, we have brought prosperity to the local economy, but we are conscious that there is always a need to do more and to help those less fortunate than ourselves.  We are proud that our staff choose to take active roles within community projects and raise funds for a variety of charities.

Gordon Hunt continues a long standing relationship with the local council and remains Chairman of the Parish Council today after retirement from L Hunt & Sons in 2006.  Gordon's father, Harry, joined the Council with Gordon on his retirement from the business in the 1980's.  Working so closely with the parish council means that we are involved in supporting local life such as the village hall, fetes and flower shows, strengthening our good relationship with our neighbours, whilst minimising the impact we have on them be keeping traffic and noise to a minimum.  We also continue to support our local village Post Office which, we feel, is essential in maintaining the heartbeat of the community.

As an organisation, we support local charitable initiatives such as Speakeasy in Basingstoke.  We run a charity policy, making regular donations to Cancer Research, Basingstoke Hospice and The British Heart Foundation.

In 2010, a team from L Hunt & Sons joined the London to Brighton bike ride in aid of the British Heart Foundation.  In doing so, they raised £1,217.05 and counting for charity, whilst also burning a few calories and having immense fun in the process.  Click here to read more.

We have a great team spirit here at L Hunt & Sons which means we have a positive impact on our community.  You will see this whenever you meet any member of our staff, always going the extra mile to help others.
